A mid-bust corset with profuse embellishment, inspired by Northumbrian sunrises. A base of pure silk is embellished with layers of lace and organza, hand painted with a mix of of fabric dyes, watercolours, paints and Shiraz wine. The organza is draped and cut into lichen-like appliqués, offering a parallel to fluffy skies. The gold thread lace and loose lace blossoms offer flashes of light, reminiscent of sunlight edging the clouds.

This corset was created as part of the ‘Bless The Weather’ capsule collection in 2020. The lookbook for this collection can be viewed here.

Jenni Hampshire began creating corsets under the moniker ‘Sparklewren’ in 2009. The designer’s background in Fine Art has resulted in a body of work akin to wearable sculpture. Historically inspired silhouettes and construction techniques are paired with lush, opulent embellishment and couture construction techniques. The brand specialised in one-of-a-kind heirloom garments, with each garment taking weeks of carefully considered embellishment and craftsmanship.
