Origin: United States
Fabric: Silk and leavers lace
Brand: Layneau Collection
A full length gown in silk charmeuse and French leavers lace. The ‘Amilee’ design was inspired by John Singer Sargent’s painting ‘Madame X’. The gown’s bodice is cut from a single piece of silk, with carefully considered pleats through the back to support the bust. Double rouleaux shoulder straps offer additional lift, and the bias cut skirt has a full 60″ sweep.
The lace was applied by hand over a dress form after the base of the gown had been constructed, then later machine stitched in place. The placement is carefully considered over the full 360 degree sweep of the gown, so as there are no visible seams or joins in the design. There are over 30 hours of skilled labour in this garment alone.
Layneau is named for Lindsay ‘Layneau’ Boudreaux, a French immigrant to the USA who has been credited as one of the first professional lingerie designers after opening a luxury underwear boutique in New York in 1912. Layneau Collection was founded in 2012 with the mission to create truly luxurious nightwear, using traditional couture craftsmanship techniques.
