A molded foam cup push up bra with stretch lace overlay and matching stretch lace short-style knicker in the ‘Berry’ shade. Nubian Skin launched in 2014, offering lingerie and hosiery to match skin tones for women of colour in a woefully under served market. The brand offers four colourways: Cafe Au Lait, Caramel, Berry and Cinnamon.
Since the label’s launch, Nubian Skin has seen meteoric success, gaining numerous prestigious stockists worldwide and international acclaim. Following the success of their initial lingerie and hosiery product launches, the brand has expanded into offering shoes, African made lingerie and loungewear, and further basic lingerie options.
Nubian Skin’s success has been instrumental in changing the lingerie industry’s drastically outdated view of nude lingerie: that not only do skintones outside beige exist, but that there is demand for products to match it. The brand’s fast paced success is also evidence of just how overdue these products were. In just a few years the industry has already seen a seismic shift as a result of Nubian Skin’s influence, with many brands expanding their skin tone products and diversifying their imagery and marketing.
In 2017, founder of Nubian Skin Ade Hassan was awarded the honour of ‘Order Of The British Empire’ on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to fashion. She has also won numerous fashion industry awards, including ‘UK’s Favourite British Designer of the Year’ at the UK Lingerie Awards 2015 and ‘Fashion Entrepreneur Of The Year’ at the 2014 Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
