The sheerness makes this pair of tap pants particularly risqué. Cut for a fitted waist with a flowing legline with four darts at the centre back waist, a vertical seam and gusset insert. The main nylon fabric is slightly sheer, with a pattern-matched chantilly leavers lace appliquéd along the leg line.
The garment is constructed with French seams at the vertical seam and the diamond-shaped gusset. The small area of legline not covered by lace scallop is finished with the hem turned in once, and embroidered over with a scallop shaped stitch. The stitching on this piece is largely completed by machine, including along the motifs of the lace. The only areas stitched by hand are the nylon binding on the waistline and the placket on the left hand fastening. The garment fastens with a single button at the top, with three poppers beneath. The label has been hand sewn onto this placket and reads ‘Juel Park, Beverly Hills, Calif.’.
The eponymous Juel Park brand was founded in 1929, when the founder was just 22. She became renowned for her exquisite couture lingerie, with a wealth of celebrity and high society clients. The label continues to create luxury lingerie in California to this day.
