Pale Pink Silk Georgette Petticoat With Insertion Lace & Irish Crochet

Pale Pink Silk Georgette Petticoat With Insertion Lace & Irish Crochet, c. 1910s, USA. The Underpinnings Museum. Photography by Tigz Rice.

Date: c. 1910s

Origin: United States

Fabric: Silk georgette, Valenciennes lace, Irish crochet lace

Brand: Custom made

A petticoat in pale pink silk georgette. It fastens at the rear with metal hooks and eyes. The hem is lavishly embellished: fine Valenciennes lace appliqué criss crosses around panels of textural, appliquéd Irish crochet lace. The hem is most likely so lavishly decorated as it was intended to be seen beneath outer skirts, in the style of this underskirt.
