Date: c. 1930s

Origin: Spain

Fabric: Cotton

Brand: Custom made

Crochet brassieres were first popularised in the 1930s, giving the lightly lifted bust line that was so fashionable for the time period, with a number of crochet patterns available for home crafting. This example was crocheted as a single piece and has a star-shaped pattern over the bust forming a gently pointed shape. The shoulder straps are made of fixed length picot-edged ribbon, with clover shaped appliqués at the bust apex. It fastens at the centre front with small shell buttons.
