‘Lingerie Guard’ clips formed of safety pins, lengths of satin ribbon and metal popper closures. The intended use for these clips was to prevent bra straps from slipping off the shoulder and becoming visible. by connecting dress and blouse shoulders with shoulder straps (elasticated and adjustable shoulder straps did not become commonplace in bras until the late 1950s, so ‘solution’ devices such as these were commonplace from as early as the 1910s). The card contains clear instructions on how to use the product. They retailed for 9d, or approximately £0.90 today.
