Date: c. 1930s
Origin: Great Britain
Fabric: Silk georgette and leavers lace
Brand: Custom made
A short silk slip that was likely originally intended for a wedding trousseau crafted in luxurious fabrics and entirely hand sewn. Peach silk georgette are used for the body of the slip. The seams are all delicately French seamed, with narrow pintucks at the underbust. Leavers lace is carefully cut and symmetrically hand sewn across the body of the slip, an embellishment technique that would have likely taken hundreds of hours to complete. The centre back fastens with small shell buttons, hand sewn button loops and a silk georgette facing.
